Industrial Cluster: Indian Cotton Company Set Up Purchasing Center To Help Cotton Farmers
The cotton company of India (CCI) is operating 71 purchasing centers in the state to help cotton farmers. Gsai Aditya, manager of cciguntur branch, said that in 2021 / 22, in addition to 41 purchasing points, they also opened 30 purchasing centers, and the government announced the minimum support price (MSP) of 6025 rupees this year.
Aditya said the price of cotton on the Adoni market is 7689 rupees per kilogram, and the highest price farmers get this year is 8219 rupees per kilogram. CCI will not purchase cotton below the average quality (FAQ) level. CCI pays particular attention to cotton grade, which is determined by the humidity level, which should be between 8-12%.
Aditya said CCI will not purchase if the moisture exceeds 12%, and CCI will not purchase immature cotton or cotton with red, yellow, and black marks, which are lower than the FAQ. The current annual rain damage to the cotton crop, making CCI unable to purchase the cotton.
